Keeping Your Eyes On The Prize

Well 2020 is underway and I hope and pray that your hopes and dreams are thriving. For you it maybe that you are doing everything that you set your heart and mind to do. However, for some there maybe feelings of excitement, pain, tragedy, uncertainty, the feeling of despair, uselessness, and the struggle of the new year is just not going the way you have hoped for.

For me personally there are a lot of things that I have put my heart, mind, energy and soul to do not only because it is 2020, but it started with the HOPE in 2019. However, most of these things for me this year has not yet come to fruition, or has even gained much traction.

Nevertheless, if we are not careful the way we PERCEIVE our [SELF] can deal us a hand that maybe far from what reality is. Well you may say, “Right now this is my reality,” but I challenge myself as I challenge you to step out of reality and to move into the realm of FAITH, HOPE, DEDICATION, COMMITMENT, AND LOVE. For without these ingredients it will be impossible for us to reach our goals or to even look to what the possibilities are well beyond 2020.

I believe that sometimes we find ourselves wanting things in life to be easily done and without much effort and hard work. One of the greatest examples we have is that of the “FARMER.” The farmer first sets it in his soul (heart and mind) that he will be not just [BE] a good farmer, but a great farmer (the best farmer). He then translates that into action by doing what it takes to be a great farmer. He must first learn, listen, watch, try, fail, succeed, succeed and fail again. He prepares the soil, he tills the soil, nurtures the soil, and he plants the seeds. The farmer continues this process until he sees the fruit of his labor letting nothing deter him from expecting and reaping the HARVEST. All the while he does this, he has FAITH, HOPE, DEDICATION, COMMITMENT, and LOVE, which is the passion, inspiration, purpose and duty to his calling).

As King Solomon profoundly wrote in Ecclesiastes 1:9, “There is nothing new under the sun.” Meaning we will have to continue in our efforts daily to PURSUE and REACH our DREAMS and GOALS. Conquering whatever it is before us has never come without great sacrifice. Peter said, “Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as something strange were happening to you (1 Peter 4:12). There are many situations and circumstances that we all face, but we have to stay committed to our purpose and calling. Stay committed and dedicated to what you know and believe. I know it is tough to go through, but I also like this verse in James, “Consider it pure joy, brothers and sisters whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your [FAITH] produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish it’s [PERFECT] work, so that you may be proven and complete, not lacking anything (James 2).

Have the [FAITH] and stay [COMMITTED] to your [HOPES] and [DREAMS] in 2020.
